Great crowds, great planes, great rides, great food! What more could you ask for? The 2016 Harvest Fly-In held at the Headland Municipal Airport on October 1, 2016 was a rousing success! It was a day of fun for families as well as aviation enthusiasts. There were aviation displays by the Henry County Sheriff's Department, the Civil Air Patrol Dothan Squad, Troy University Aviation Department, the U.S. Army Aviation Center, Aerostar World (Headland FBO), the Experimental Aircraft Association EAA "Wiregrass" Chapter 1358 members and displays of vintage WWII fighter aircraft. There were continuous streams of people lining up for helicopters rides sponsored as a fundraiser for the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation & Flying Museum, Inc. The Farm Fare Food Truck provided refreshments. The Headland Fire & Rescue was on hand if needed. There was face-painting for the kids as well as local Cub Scout troop selling goodies.
The markings on Runway 9/27 was repainted on May 6, 2015. This was a grant funded by the FAA for $28,335.00.
